To help increase the literacy in the area, the Rotary Club of Metropolitan Pateros led by Pres. Rob Canama partnered with the Books For A Cause and Goods.Ph in putting up the very first street library in the Philippines on March 27, 2015! Called the Munting Aklatan No. 1, the library is located at the Barangay Martires del 96,
Pateros, Manila.
A joint project with the Barangay Officials
led by Kapitan Cesar Llagas and as part of the Happy Barangay of the Rotary Club of Metropolitan Pateros, Munting Aklatan is literally a mini library located in the streets or public places (bus, jeepney, tricycle stations or public
markets/places) where the drivers and passengers and market/street
vendors are the main target as they can read books and magazines while
waiting for their next passengers or customers).
Aside from the street library, the Barangay Martires del 96 Community Library was also inaugurated.
The Barangay Day Care Center also received books from Books For A Cause.
The Rotary Club of Metropolitan Pateros is part of the Rotary Club International District 3830.
